How might we engage high school students in raising awareness and funds for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy?

When a group of Staten Island High School students decided to organize their own school-wide campaign to raise money for JAR of Hope, a New Jersey-based nonprofit for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy research and awareness, their incredible spirit sparked an idea to engage an untapped younger audience. The Hands on the Floor campaign elevated JAR of Hope’s viral fundraising success to a national level as high schools tried to out-fundraise each other in a friendly, philanthropic spirit. Handsonthefloor.com has driven donations and event participation among many high schools and continues to grow as more students get involved.
